“Educators contribute to the profession.”
As a teacher candidate, the applications of this standard are not immediately obvious, as the implication would be me serving as a coaching teacher. Considering I’ve yet to garner a license, never mind sufficient experience, this one is a little harder to pin down. Even so, it’s hard to deny the air of collegiality that exists even within the cohort of my fellow teachers-in-training and coaching teachers.

That being said, however, this standard does make me reflect on what kind of coaching teacher I might be. Will I be too lenient? Too strict? Will there be things I miss? Mistakes I make? All of that does remain to be seen, but I hope I can be even half of the teacher that my friends and mentors are. I owe a debt of gratitude to all of them for making me the educator I currently am and (hopefully) will become. Maybe the best way I can go about repaying it is to remember how I was mentored when my turn does come.
